G387: KIDS CGA SPECIAL (menued)

Nice collection for those with slower, CGA machines. Some will be too fast on
a 286+. Ideal for Amstrad 1512, 1640, 2086 etc. NOTE: all (but Saturn) are
also OK on Hercules monitors with a CGA emulator.
PC FUN (85) MAPLES - three games (Killer Bees, Cosmic Crisis, Falling Star)
played from menu. Mainly "Shoot'em ups". 5+; 76K; $5; CGA. 256K RAM. ****
LEAPER (89) CHAPEL - help froggy cross road & river. Avoid cars, jump on logs
& turtles. Beware of snakes & crocodiles! 10 levels. 5+; 35K; $15; CGA. ****
BURGER (88) COMPUTER PUBLICATIONS - shoot down burger bits (bun, lettuce,
tomato) in correct sequence. Get hot dogs for a bonus. 5+; 48K; PD; CGA. ***
BOUNCING BABIES (85) D.BASKIN - catch the babies on the stretcher as they
jump out of the burning building! 5+. 37K; $5; CGA. ***
ELEVATOR (86) WORDWORKS - move man from floor to floor collecting money bags.
Avoid the lifts! Looks easy but isn't! 6+; 57K; PD; CGA. ****

G066: JUNIOR SPACE TRAVELLER (menued)

GALACTIX (88): you're a friendly little fellow with stalk eyes! Four screen
areas; play area; icon area - select actions such as eat, get, use; strength
indicator; area where messages can be read. Nice leisurely pace. Collect
keys, pistols etc. 7+; 70K; £0; CGA. ****
GALACTIX 2 (91): this time you are searching for 3 magic orbs that belong to
the king, same nice graphics and features as above. 7+; 50K; £0; CGA. ****
JASON JUPITER (90): search caves to remove the deaddly borxidium, if you get
fed up of the ten screens provided you can design your own using the included
screen editor. Nice graphics. 6+; 60K; PD; CGA. ****
SPACE PANELS (88): odd but interesting! You're at the controls of an alien
space ship and must work out what they all do. We still haven't! but there's
plenty of sound and colour! 6+; 140K; $3 (demo disk); CGA. MONO. ***

056: PACMAN SPECIAL (menued)

Don't expect too much from the graphics; but this doesn't detract from the
addictive gameplay. All (but PACKMAN) also support mono monitors.
PACKMAN (83): best PD version of Pacman with nice colour graphics. Joy or
keys; also supports Amstrad keyboard (1512/1640) joysticks. 10 levels, each
has bonuses, faster monsters and weaker power pills! 5+; 42K; PD; CGA. *****
PACGIRL (82): bigger mazes with more dots, play in sequence or random levels.
B&W screens apart from green pills! 6+; 49K; PD. ***
3-DEMON (84): excellent 3D, colour version. Collect dots and bonuses as you
explore endless corridors. Can view a map showing maze layout & uneaten dots!
Descend to 8 lower (harder) levels. Great! 6+; 60K; $10; ****
ROMAZ (90): Pacman with protection shields, transporter room & land mines. 5
different layouts with up to 11 levels. Colours, keyboard controls & symbols
used in the boards can all be customised. Speeds for XT to 486 machines.
Timed/untimed. Saves game. 1-8 players; 130K; $20 (extras); ****
G007: CGA TETRIS SPECIAL (menued)

TETRIS (88): Early basic version, very true to the original. Arrange falling
pieces to fit neatly in the bottom of a barrel. When a row is completely
filled it disappears, try to complete as many rows as possible before the
barrel fills up. Completely addictive. 8-ADULT. 25K; PD; CGA. ****
COLUMNS v1.01 (90): Manoeuver columns of coloured blocks, align colours in
horizontal, vertical or diagonal rows. Also OK in Mono. 8+. 30K; PD. ****
BLOX v8.0 (90): This version can run in mono or colour (text or graphics).
Includes a boss key! 8-ADULT. 25K; £5 (disk full of games).
DOUBLE BLOCKS v1.01 (90): Fancy version, slide blocks after they've dropped,
show incoming blocks, avoid obstacles. 2 people can play simultaneously.
Definable keys, colour or mono. 8-ADULT. 60K;$5 (modem version).****
The last two games on this disk are not tetris type games:-
XONIX (84) A classic! Old, simple graphics but very addictive. Wipe out bits
of the screen by cutting them off with your trail - if you hit your own trail
or one of the balls you lose a life. 7-ADULT. 46K; PD; CGA. ****
ANTIX (85) from the author of Tetris (above), similar to Xonix but also has
balls that bounce around behind the screen. 7-ADULT. 32K; PD; CGA. ***
G057: JOYSTICK GAMES (menued) - 6 games, some also use keyboard. ***

"Joystick" refers to analogue type (attached to a game port). It does not
mean the "switching" type that plugs into keyboard of Amstrad 1512/1640s etc.
JANITOR JOE v2 (85): robots have gone berzerk, Joe must find keys & escape. 5
rooms/levels. Simple platform game. Joy/keys. 6+; 80K; $0; CGA. ***
PIPERUN v1.0 (86): collect treasures & go home. Trouble is they keep moving!
Infuriating! 4 levels; 6+; 9K; $5; JOY. CGA. ***
STAR v1.0 (86): simple shoot'em up. Using lasers & torpedoes, destroy enemy
ships, enter the reactor and destroy that too! 5+; 80K; $5; JOY. CGA. ***
FLEETSWEEP v1.15 (85): another shoot'em up. Relentless streams of enemy
ships. Keys/joy. 1-4 players. 5+; 66K; $30 (update,manual); CGA. ***
HOVERCRAFT v1.10 (90): travel through different terrains to destroy missile
launchers. Many options. Max 4 simultaneous players - if you've 2 joysticks.

WIZZARD (91): Pinball for 1-4 players. 6+; 27K; $0; JOY. CGA. ***
G065: SHOOT 'EM UPS (menued)

DRAGONFLY (87): shoot and drop bombs from your helicopter. 7+; 22K; PD; CGA.
REBOUND (90): kill meanies before they touch the wall 30 times. 5+; 50K; PD.
BOATWAR v1.10 (91): simple, simply press spacebar to fire, no movement keys.
Good for very young kids. 5+; 96K; $10 (maths program); CGA. ***
BOMBRUN (91): bomb targets carefully with your plane, only allowed seven
misses. 6+; 12K; buy program pack for £7.95; CGA (B&W). EGA/VGA (colour). ***
SOPWITH (85): defeat enemy forces, hangars, depots. 7+; 70K; PD; CGA. ***
SPACE INVADERS (1990): basic version (mono's OK) of classic. 5+; 14K. PD.
SPACEWAR (85): complicated battle between 2 ships, 1/2 players. Use cloaks,
phasers, torpedoes. B&W screens. 8+; 27K; $20 (update,code $30); CGA. HERC.
ENCOUNTER (85): fast shoot em up with nice sound. 5+; 44K; PD; CGA. ***
G087: CLASSIC ARCADE GAMES (menued)

All have optional joystick support; some may be too fast on a 286+ machine.
CLONE INVADERS v4.4 (89) - excellent Space Invader game, with options to suit
modern PCs. Supports CGA, EGA & VGA; different speeds to suit 8086/8, 286 &
386s. Fanatics can "fine-tune" to get exactly the right step rates. Sound
on/off. Mouse/keys/joy. 5+; 135K; $20; CGA. EGA. VGA. *****
KONG (84) - platform game, rescue the lady. Beware of barrels & fireballs.
Sound on/off; vary colours & speed. Joystick option. 6+; 45K; PD; CGA.****
QUBERT (83) - jump around changing colours of tiles. Avoid falling fruit &
snakes. Variable colours. Keys or joy (recommended). 6+;56K;PD;CGA.****
PANGO (83) - kill bees by squashing them with blocks or stunning them. Line
up blocks for bonus. Keys/joy. Music/sound on/off. 6+; 30K; PD; CGA. ***
HOPPER (85) - frogger clone. Get frogs safely across the road and river.
Joystick option won't work for us but keyboard is OK. 5+; 38K; PD; CGA. ***

POPCORN (88): Compulsive game from France, vaguely like Breakout. Crazy sun-
glassed characters float about. The bat may get covered in glue, elongate,
turn into a gun etc. Remove the blocks, some reveal animated scenes. 49
levels. Editor to design your own boards. Variable speed. Mouse (recommended)
or keys. Incredible graphics. 7-ADULT; 160K; PD; CGA. *****

PHARAOHS TOMB I v2.2 (90): High speed graphics look good even on an Amstrad
1512. You're Nevada Smith, an Archaeology research assistant. Search the
pyramid for the lost tomb. Collect coins, idols & keys. Kill monsters with
your spear. Save/restore. 7+; 132K; $25 (4 levels, map, hints); CGA. ****
DIGGORY (90): Diggory is a molelike creature that lives on magic mushrooms &
doombug eggs. He's trapped in a series of egg infested caves and must eat
them before they turn into bugs and eat him! 7+; 15K; £0; CGA. ***
G086: CGA SPECIAL II (menued)

ARCTIC ADVENTURE (91) Apogee. Nevada Smith is now searching for fragments of
a Viking map that will hopefully lead to treasure. Explore Arctic "map" &
choose one of 20 caves to enter. Avoid snowballs, collect pickaxes, keys etc.
Infinite lives, so you can concentrate on completing levels. Save/restore;
Keys/Joy; 6+; 85K; £35 (Parts 2-4, hints & tips); CGA. *****
MAINBREAK v1.0 (90) - excellent addictive "pipemania" clone. Connect pieces
of pipe; after 10 secs water starts to flow. How long can you make pipe
before water escapes. Extra points if you use cross pieces etc. Sound on/off;
7 levels. 7+; 110K; $10 (no delay screen, 99 levels); CGA. MOUSE. *****
INSANITY (90) - huge maze game that probably will make you insane! Just
viewing the built-in demo makes you dizzy. Good sound (optional); you must
solve riddles, avoid baddies etc. as well as finding your way. Mindblowing!

G136: CGA SPECIAL III (menued)

MONUMENTS OF MARS (90) APOGEE: you've been sent on a special mission to Mars.
Rescue missing astronauts and discover secrets of its monuments. Find
entrance to each one. Whatever's inside? 20 levels. Puzzles to work out,
creatures & traps to avoid. Definable keys. Unlimited lives. Save/restore;
sound on/off; 7-ADULT; 100K; $20 (4 volumes); CGA. *****
XTETRIS v2.0 (89): tetris variant where the blocks are squares and triangles
in various combinations. Of course triangles tend to slide down each other to
complicate things! Every so often bombs appear with which you can destroy
unwanted blocks. 8 levels each accompanied by quite good CGA pictures -
Einstein, Man on Moon etc. Sound on/off. 8-ADULT; 210K; PD; CGA. ****
BEAST (84): an old favourite, simple coloured character based gfx. Push the
blocks around and squash the beasties! 26 possible starting levels (each with
max 19 further levels) with various nos of beasts, explosive blocks, hatching
rates etc. Alter speed to suit all PCs. 8+; 20K; $20; ANY MONITOR. ***
G442: CGA SPECIAL IV

Most are too fast on a 386+ unless there's a turbo button you can turn off.
SPONGS! IN FREEZER FRENZY (89) MAGIC MUSHROOM - push Pengy around the
freezer, squash or electrify the spongs and stack the frozen food! 5-Adult;
70K; FW; CGA. ****
BRIDGE HOPPER (90) HARNESS (UK) - get men across the gaps by quickly moving
the platform. After a while they appear from both directions at once! Needs
fast reactions. 5-Adult; 80K; FW; CGA. ****
SHUTTLE BLASTER (88) KLUDGEWARE - old fashioned shoot em up, get the USSR
satellites avoiding the US ones! 6+; 90K; $12 (source code); CGA. ***
SEALAB (88) - nice aquarium display for your screen - fish, seahorses, wrecks
etc. Could use as a simple screen saver. 25K; PD; CGA. ***
G047: CGA PLATFORM GAMES (menued)

JUMPMAN LIVES (91): looks deceptively old fashioned. Reminiscent of platform
games of early 1980s. Fly to Saturn and deactivate terrorist bombs. 12 levels
with unique challenges. 1-4 players. Keys/joy, vary speed, Adlib support. 6+;
100K; $30 (45 levels, codes, hints, editor, bonus); CGA. EGA. VGA. MCGA. ****
DANGEROUS DAVE v1.0 (90): supports EGA/VGA as well as CGA. Nice graphics;
mouse, keys (definable) or joy. Guide Dave through 10 dangerous areas, with a
gun and jetpack for help. Watch out for weird weeds, water & fire or you'll
get toasted! Collect the trophy on each level. 6+; 160K; $0; CGA. EGA. ****
GAME WITH NONAME (90): simple colour screens but good play. Having crashed on
a planet collect diamonds for fuel. Avoid hovering aliens, acid geysers.
Collect keys. Variable speed, password to levels 2-5. 6+; 40K; £0; CGA. ***
G427: CGA DETECTIVE (menued)

MASTERSPY (88) A.BALL (UK) - complex! combines investigation with four large
arcade style games (max 20 screens in each); Potholes, Stepping Stones,
Snakes & Ladders and Underground Railway. You direct 4 professionals (Hair
brain, Flash Harry etc) - but which one is the mole? Use telephones, letters
& radios to find out and get your diploma! Includes practise levels that
younger children can play simply as arcade games. Different everytime you
play! Too fast on 386+.10+; 70K; £3.50 (pack, hints etc); CGA. ****
SLEUTH (86) E.MILLER - explore the house with your cursor keys, question
guests (some are moody and don't respond initially), search for clues and the
murder weapon (it helps if you have the magnifying glass). Reminiscent of
Cluedo. Personalise and use your own guest list if desired. Every game is
different. 9+; 150K; $10; ANY MONITOR (best in colour). ****

BUSHIDO (88) J&R LEE - oriental fighting game with rather good large animated
CGA graphics. Kick, punch & jump. Skill levels. 6+; 140K; PD; CGA. ****
NINJA (89) KEMMELMUELLER - get through the many levels of a guarded fortress
as possible. Move, jump, crouch & kill the blackbelts. 6+; 45K; PD; CGA. ***
DARWINS ARENA v1.0 (90) M.KOWALSKI - based on the game of Life. 7 lifeforms
each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Select two to fight, place your
bet and settle back to watch noisy, animated outcome! 8+; 95K; $5; CGA.***

A marketing aid from Dominoes Pizza (U.S) - fun game where the idea is to
deliver a pizza to the top floor of Doom Industries office block within 30
minutes. You must avoid the "Noid" and all his playful tricks & traps or else
your pizza gets squashed flat! Joystick or keys. 7+; 360K; FW. CGA. ****
G027: FORD SIMULATOR I (87)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Driving simulator; any of 16 cars can be tested in 4 events (touring, drag
strip, slalom, grand prix). Also: "infocentres" on steering, braking etc.
Animated pictures & buyers guide to 29 models. 6-ADULT. 350K; $0; CGA. ***
G028: FORD SIMULATOR II (89)

New mouse/joy support. 3 difficulty levels for each of 9 events: 1) Test
track: drag, amoeba, obstacle. 2) City: airport, downtown or shopping centre.
3) Backroads: 5, 10, 15 miles. Also a Buyers guide - a large database about
many cars and trucks, "Infocentre" - animated diagrams on features such as
safety, audio systems etc. "Electronic Showroom" - full screen pictures of

Every year San Antonio celebrates Fiesta and one highlight is Niosa, a giant
block party. You must go and eat, drink and investigate as much as possible.
Find your friend and return home before midnight. Be careful of the
entertainers, keep an eye on your wallet, don't go in the wrong toilets and
you may be OK! Pretty tame CGA graphics by todays standards but great fun for
